Lanrae The Guy With A Fresh Sound On the Block:
There is no doubt that the Nigerian Music Industry is one of the fastest growing Industry in the World, with Afrobeats being an Umbrella term for the sounds coming out of Western Africa, Nigeria and it's closest Anglophone Neighbour, Ghana to be precised...under Afrobeats are diffrent kinds of Sub-Genres. Just few days ago I was on Spotify playing songs via the "New Discovery From Up and Coming Artistes" a playlist curated by one of Spotify's Top curator focused on the discovery of new emerging Talents and Indie Artistes, when a song came on. You no that feeling you get when a song is hard but you dont know who sang it ? That was the same feeling I got when Lanrae's "Bad Girl" came on, his sound was so fresh and dope that I had to look up his other songs "Phantom", “Killah”, "Monica" & "Hennessy" and to be honest they are all hard jams, so I decide to put it upon my self to follow up on his Journey...I made my research about him, pulled some strings and I ended up having a Q & A interview session with him over the Zoom thing.
The interview was scheduled for Saturday, 12th of March at 1:30pm prompt. It's past 12pm on Saturday and I kept checking my clock so as to be prompt with the timing we both agreed on. To be honest I'm not that good when it comes to keeping up in time for appointments or schedules...I'm prone to lateness and I guess that's one of my Toxic traits...I'm the kind of person that'd wake up at 4am on Sunday for a Church service that starts at 7:30am and still end up getting to Church Late. I kept watching my clock and the moment it was 1:30pm on the dot I placed a zoom call to Lanrea, he was on standby as well and he answered it right away.
"Hey, Big Man how you dey?"
"Hi! Baba I'm cool, I bet you're doing good as well" says Lanrae as he carried a bottle of Glenfiddich in front of him, poured it into a red disposable cup, mixed it with Pepsi and sips it. Judging by the visual through our shared Zoom window I can see that Lanrae is big on drip, Nigga had a Nike head warmer on, a Dior T-Shirt and a wrist watch that would look like an iWatch...although I can't be sure about what series it is. So I commenced with the
Q & A session and here is how it went below
